BBC Sport can reveal that England's 2018 World Cup bid team plans to give luxury handbags to the wives of all 24 members of Fifa's voting committee.
Fifa vice-president Jack Warner took delivery of his wife's bag during a recent trip to London.
Shadow sports minister Hugh Robertson claimed the move was "a massive misjudgement" and could backfire.

Less than a month after Adebayor used "that celebration" following his goal against Arsenal, Richard Dunne has demonstrated what REAL class is; something that appears to be lacking in a lot of footballers these days.
Following his goal against former club Man City, a club he spent 9 years with, Dunne simply turned around and walked to the halfway line.
Such respect for club and supporters was, it seems, appreciated. Following his strike, both Villa AND City fans applauded.
Congratulations Dunne and Man City! Such a shame that this is an isolated incident...

England are one of the best teams in the world and we have to play every game to win but also with respect for the opponents.
We must play against every team without fear but we must not be arrogant. If you play with arrogance it's impossible to win.

This, according to the increasingly unsettling Manchester City manager Mark Hughes, is the moment when:
Craig [Bellamy] just put a defensive hand out to push [a supporter invading the pitch] away
... at the recent Manchester derby. Really Mark? Hughes and Manchester City are lending their backing to Bellamy and have decided not to punish him after (it is alleged) he attacked a fan who encroached onto the field. The Times, however reports:
Bellamy is alleged to have told the man to “get off the f***ing pitch”. The supporter reportedly responded by telling Bellamy to “f*** off” which is when the Manchester City forward appeared to strike out.
and
TV replays show the Welshman advancing towards the melee and that the fan was being held by two stewards when Bellamy struck out.
Luckily, the FA and Greater Manchester Police are looking into the matter and it's possible that Hughes may be missing yet ANOTHER striker, following Adebayor's recent ban for stamping on van Persie's face (which Mark Hughes defended).
Maybe Mark Hughes should stop defending his thugs, stop moaning about "added time" and install some discipline in his players. Shame they didn't beat United though...

You ask 100 people, 99 will say [Emmanuel Adebayor's alleged stamp on Robin van Persie] is very bad and the hundredth will be Mark Hughes.
Arsene Wenger in response to Mark Hughes asking for Adebayor to be "cut a bit of slack". Really Mark?

I feel like I've gone back in time; I've seen scenes like those above before, I'm sure I have...
It's no wonder that English football "fans", and I use the term very loosely, have such a bad reputation around the world. The time was, fans would get up, go to the pub, have a scrap, go to the football ground, have a scrap, if you were lucky have a scrap in the ground before fighting all the way home chanting racist insults as you went. Thankfully, most of the fans of those days have either grown up or are in prison and for a long time, things had quietened down and a seemingly more civilised breed of fan were turning up to actually watch the football, instead of using it as an excuse to punch someone in the head or chant foul abuse at someone on the pitch.
Unfortunately, West Ham and Milwall "fans" (and I really hope it's the minority) have let the side down to put it mildly. The cretins that turned up to the Carling Cup game on Tuesday decided to go back to their scum-riddle roots and had fight upon fight upon pitch invasion upon fight. Why? What do you have to gain? Almost certainly you'll be identified on the CCTV cameras around the ground put in place for this very reason. Hammers fans who invaded the pitch will end up banned. The scum fighting in the street will, I hope, end up getting arrested so why do it?! You've sullied the, already poor, reputation of English fans, NORMAL English fans who turn up to the game and WATCH THE FOOTBALL.
To make matters worse, both clubs have also had to make statements regarding racist abuse aimed at players.
It makes me feel ashamed, as a football fan, to be associated with these people.
I don't care. I know I'm not a monkey. I might be as strong as a gorilla but I'm not a monkey.

Swansea's lack of discipline has cost them dearly

As a Leeds fan, it pains me to say it but the Leeds United website looks quite dated. There's not really anything wrong with it, but it's not exactly beautiful. The picture above is on the Manchester City homepage which, I'm sure you'll agree, looks pretty cool. The whole site looks very Web 2.0 and is customisable.
It seems they're also embracing social networking with, as you can see above, a Flickr stream and twitter account (@MCFC), both of which can be displayed on the homepage, if you so require.
I suppose this is what happens when you have a rich sugar-daddy chairman!

He was fiercely loyal to his players and got the best out of them. He trusted them and gave them huge respect. Players had great love for Bobby and he was the sort of guy you wanted to perform for.
In a time when football has become more about making money than about the love of the game, thee footballing community mourns the passing of a man who, quite clearly, loved football with all his heart.
